How To D.I.Y. Your Own Colored Hair Gel
Here are some of our tips to creating a bottle of your own colored hair gel:
Whether you’re a veteran crafter, or just a beginner trying to pass some time by, making your own colored hair gel is super simple and easy. Just follow these steps to get a poppin’ temporary color for your hair in no time!
1. Find a regular hair gel.
Grab a bottle of regular, clear hair gel. One of our favorites is Suave Professionals Firm Control Sculpting Gel for its long-lasting hold without the annoying crunch or residue of other hair gels.
2. Grab some eye shadow.
Grab some eyeshadow in the color of your liking. It doesn’t have to be an expensive eyeshadow from your favorite palette, a drugstore or dollar store eyeshadow will do. Mix the bottle of hair gel and the eyeshadow into a bowl. For a light tint in your hair gel, then one pan of eyeshadow will definitely do the trick; if you want a more opaque color, you will need two to three pans.
3. Mix your colored hair gel.
Add your colored hair gel concoction into a squirt bottle and you’re all set to go! What we love about this D.I.Y. version is that it’s extremely customizable to your liking. If you want a light-hold colored hair gel to give curly locks a smooth, tamed look, then you can use a bottle of TRESemmé Flawless Curls Defining Gel. This hair gel will give your curly locks a long-lasting, all-day hold without any crunch or impart straw-like texture. If you’re trying to keep your hair in an extreme mohawk for a festival or party, then you probably need to make your colored hair gel with a firmer-hold formula. For a stronger, no-budge style, try using TRESemmé TRES Two Ultra Firm Control Gel. This hair gel lasts all day long and won’t let your locks move an inch. This is definitely part of our hair care utility belt for those days where our hair needs a bit more control. That’s it!
