Taking Care of Greasy Hair

1. Use the Right Shampoo

Shampoo your hair daily with a specially formulated cleanser for oily hair. If hair is particularly oily, repeat the process and shampoo your hair again. This is especially important if you have fine hair that can tend to feel weighted down by hair oils. Try Love Beauty and Planet Volume and Bounty Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower Shampoo whose lightweight formula can deliver moisture to your hair without weighting you down.

2. Don’t Over Condition Your Hair

While conditioner is amazing to make your hair silky and smooth too much of it will leave your hair heavy and looking drab. Stick to a lighter blend, and preferably one that is oil-free. You also don’t need to condition your hair at the roots, which can make it drab. Focus Love Beauty and Planet Volume and Bounty Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower Conditioner on the ends for a soft, non-greasy finish.

3. Use the Right Temperatures

There is tons of buzz about water temps and we are equally intrigued anytime we hear about how cold, warm and hot water can affect our hair. For greasy strands, we suggest using cold to warm water since hot water can cause your hair to get even more oily and greasy.

4. Brush Lightly

Even brushing (or not brushing) can impact the level of grease in your hair. For an even distribution of your natural hair oils, we suggest using a boar bristle brush to give your hair a gentle massage as it helps stimulate the scalp.

5. Stop Touching Your Hair

We are completely guilty of this and get why it’s one of those things that you just end up doing without thinking about it. You can spread oils with your hands, so the best bet is to lay off your hair to avoid this!

6. Check Out Dry Shampoo

If you hate washing everyday (or can’t), get a dry shampoo like TRESemmé Clean Pro Pure Dry Shampoo that can work to soak up any grease. These formulas come in a powder or spray that works to absorb any oils as it revives your hair.
