Our Fave Trendy Hairstyles and How to Do Them
1. Corkscrew Coils
Starting off strong with our favorite over the top curly look. ’80s style big corkscrew curls have been becoming more popular than ever! We always start off styles that require heat with a heat protectant like the Nexxus New York Salon Care Promend Heat Protecting Mist. To get these perfect tight corkscrews, you’ll have to use a small curling iron, at least a half inch or smaller if you have it! The smaller the iron, the tighter the curl will be. These curls are easiest to achieve by curling very small half inch sections of hair all the way from root to tip. This gives that almost natural look! To make the curls look even more natural, every now and then, do a curl going the opposite direction. When you are done curling, shake out your hair for all the volume you’ve ever wanted.
2. Messy Braids
Braids have been so big in 2017. We could write a whole post on just braided trendy hairstyles and how to do them. We’ve been loving braids so much recently because they’ve come so far from the overly perfect braids of the last few years. This year messy is in and we’re digging it. To achieve a loose messy braid like this one, you’ll need to have long hair without too many layers. Starting as low as you can (without hair pulling straight out on it’s own) start braiding your hair. The secret to keeping a loose braid in tact is actually to braid it quite tight. Then, once you have secured the braid you can tug and massage the edges to make the braid look larger and messier.
3. Hair Jewelry
Hair jewelry has been on of our favorite micro-trends to pop up this year. This style allows you to wear piercings in your hair (hooray!), which is just about the best thing ever. The piercings are really just small metallic hoops that you attach to your hair via a braid. To achieve this look, simply braid your hair (a three-strand braid will do) and apply the hoops. We suggest applying as you go, so you can keep an eye on placement and make any adjustments you may need.
4. Sleek and Chic
The wet-looking hair trend is most definitely still in. We’re particularly big fans of this look because it’s a major statement with little effort. All you need is the TRESemmé Tres Two Ultra Firm Control Gel and a comb. Apply the gel to your hair, starting at the hairline, as you work your way back. Comb it through, and let it set! That’s literally all it takes. The more gel you use, the more wet it will look, and the longer it will take to set, just keep that in mind.
5. Unique Buns
There are so many different styles of buns we are loving right now. We like how these elevated buns are no longer just your hair wrapped around and pinned in place. Anyone can do that! No, for 2017 we’re loving buns with a little more oomph. You can do a sleek braided bun by creating a braid (extra points for a fishtail braid) and winding that instead. We’re also loving this pretzel braid and this braided snake bun.
6. New Ponytail
Our last favorite trend for right now is the ponytail. Now we know the ponytail has been around for forever but this new style includes a slight twist. After washing your hair, use the Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smoothing Hair Serum, then blow-dry your hair straight. Create a slight twist to the left section of your hair, as you create a low ponytail. Secure your hair at the nape of your neck and cover the hair tie with a section of hair. Done and done.
