Two Braids Hairstyles to Add to Your Arsenal
Read on to check out a few of our faves:
1. Pigtail/Lose Style
This 2 braids hairstyle was all the rage at the alice+olivia show during NYFW. Styled by TRESemmé’s Jeanie Syfu, this look is all about a loose texturized braided pigtail that’s interwoven together and then mussed up for the ultimate lived-in style. Get the full scoop on how to nail this look in our fishtail braid tutorial.
2. Dip-Dyed Ends
Another cool way to this style is to showcase your dye job via cute braided pigtails. This subtle option allows you to try out a vibrant shade without having to deal with a huge commitment. Kudos if you go the vibrant orange hair/red dipped route, a.k.a our current color combo obsession.
3. Jumbo Cornrows
Add in some jumbo cornrows to your two braids style. This style is sleek and adds more volume and style to a look. By creating these “inside-out braids” that create a 3-dimensional effect, you can easily add some height to your style.
4. Dutch Braid
You’ve probably heard of many iterations of this style. The basics of these two long braids are pretty much the same. We love this style for a casual weekend, and it’s also a look that you can effortlessly rock at the gym. Master the steps of this cool style in our Dutch braid tutorial and set your style with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Extend Hold Level 4.
5. Add Some Glitter
Now that you’ve got the base of this hairstyle down, you can really have fun with it by adding in some glitter. Glitter roots were a big deal last year, and you can still easily transition the look this time around to your entire braid. To achieve this look, apply some gel, like Suave Max Hold Sculpting Gel, to your hair, and then create your braid. When finished, add some additional gel and use a brush to add some glitter. You’ll have a fun party style that’s bound to turn heads.
6. Cornrows and Dutch Braids
This is a killer combo! Create cornrows that transition into a Dutch style for loads of texture and one of the coolest designs. We also love how this style looks with longer two plaits.
7. Criss-Cross
Another style that we have been rocking is the cool criss-cross style. This look is all about plaiting your hair diagonally and then crossing each plait over the other one. To really get into this style, you’ve got to check out our criss-cross tutorial that will help you nail this look in no time.
8. Pigtail with Fringe
While the three-strand braid is dubbed as a basic method, it’s anything but when paired with a high-fashion look. To create this look, be sure to start with a smooth base with the assistance of serum, like Bed Head by TIGI Get Twisted Anti-Frizz Finishing Spray. Smooth the product throughout your hair and create your even part (after your bangs). Braid one section and tie with a hair tie. Repeat on the other side as you rock one of the easiest looks around.
9. Braid Within Braids
Before creating your two braids style, start off by making a mini braid on each side. Once you have both, incorporate them into your look to add more texture and style. This trick immediately steps up your style game!
10. Protective Style
We love this look on natural hair. Not only can you take a break from wearing it down, but you also get to showcase an easy style that screams simple and stylish.
